  Theatre and film actor and military costumes designer. Born in Warsaw in 1930 into a family of a cavalry major, spent his young years in a cavalry regiment stationed in Garwolin, where he learnt horse riding. In those days he developed his interest in horses, army, and history. After the Second World War he undertook studies at the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Warsaw. For some years (1952-1958) he worked as an actor and stage manager in a theatre in Opole, a town in the South of Poland. From there he moved to Warsaw, where in the Contemporary Theatre (Teatr Współczesny) he developed his career under the tutelage of Erwin Axer and Maciej Englert. He worked there until 1995. In the 1970's his expertise in horses and carriages brought him to the attention of film producers and he became a consultant and then a military costumes and accessories designer.

He has been awarded the following prizes :

• Award of Polish Filmmakers Association for outstanding artistic achievement and contribution to the development of Polish cinematography. 2016
• The Polish Film Award „ORŁY” 2016 for military costumes for the film „Spanish flu”
• The Award for military costumes for the film “Spanish flu” in the 40 Festival of Polish Feature Films, Gdynia 2015
• The CINEMAGIC Award for costumes in 6th International Film Festival , Wilanów 2011.
• The National Defense Ministry’s Award :The Honor Decoration and Medal “The Custodian of Polish Arms’ Tradition, Glory and Fame”, 2009
• The Polish Film Award "ORŁY" 2008 for military costumes for the film „Katyń”.
• The Award for costumes for the film “Jutro idziemy do kina” (Tomorrow we are going to the cinema), in the 32 Festival of Polish Feature Films, Gdynia 2007.

For more than 15 years  Andrzej Szenajch has been co-operating with Andrzej Wajda, Krzysztof Zanussi, Jerzy Antczak and many other Polish directors. He also has his contribution in foreign co-operations in which he worked with such renowned directors as Steven Spielberg, Volker Schloendorff, Roman Polanski, Costa Gavras, Yves Angelo, Giacomo Battiato and many others.
